"Alexa, ask DrinkBoy for..."

Amazon Echo is a hands-free speaker you control with your voice. Echo connects to the Alexa Voice Service, to play music, provide information, news, sports scores, weather, and more—instantly. All you have to do is ask. Amazon has provided a way for customers to add new "skills" to their Echo or other Alexa powered devices (Such as the recently announced "Dot" and "Tap" devices). Here at DrinkBoy, we are always looking for new and interesting ways to give our users access to our collection of cocktail recipes, so we have written a 'skill' that you can subscribe to which will allow you to ask for your favorite recipes. To add the DrinkBoy skill you just need to use your Alexa application (on your computer or your phone) and select the "Skills" option, then search for "DrinkBoy" and enable the skill. Once the skill has been added, you can ask for your recipes with phrases such as:

"Alexa, ask DrinkBoy for the recipe for a Martini."

"Alexa, ask DrinkBoy how do I make a Sidecar."

"Alexa, ask DrinBoy for an Old Fashioned recipe."

"Alexa, ask Drinkboy can I get the recipe for a Trident."

We've tried to anticipate the various ways you might try to ask for a cocktail recipe, so don't feel that you are stuck with the above patterns. This whole "Alexa/Echo Skills" thing is pretty new to us, and so we are carefully reviewing our implementation and trying to make sure it works as efficiently as possible. We are also thinking about how we might take advantage of this service and provide some interesting ways to provide cocktail recommendations and not require you to know a specific recipe ahead of time. If you have any feedback, please feel free to let us know by dropping a note onto our FaceBook page.
