Petruchio

Aperol was first introduced in 1919 at the first "Padova Fiere", a trade exhibition held in Padova Italy. Here in the US we know it better as "Padua", which was the setting for Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew". So I named this drink after the lead character "Petruchio".

I created this drink “on the fly” one day when I was at a bar and saw that they had Aperol. Since back then it was pretty uncommon, I asked them what they were using it in. The bartender had no idea, they brought it in because it was unusual. He asked me if I had any ideas, and I came up with this right out of the gate. I had been playing around with using a peaty Scotch from a bitters bottle to add just hints of it to a drink.
