Half fill a Collins glass with shaved ice, and add simple syrup, mint, and rum. Muddle thoroughly and fill glass with shaved ice. Mix with up-and-down motion until glass becomes frosted. Garnish with sprig of mint and a lemon slice. Serve with a short straw.
