This delightful drink is one that you won't typically see. The first time I saw it in print was in the 2005 edition of “The Bartender’s Guide to Cocktails & Mixed Drinks” by Stewart Walton. I have since been trying to track down when this recipe might first have appeared, and to date, the oldest reference I have found is in the 1975 edition of Playboy's "Host & Bar Book" by Thomas Mario.

One of my readers noticed a distinct simularity between this and the "Chinese Lady" cocktail as presented in A.J. Tarling 1937 Coronation Edition of the Café Royal Cocktail Book (Link to EUVS scanned copy). That recipe is listed as 1/4 Yellow Chartreuse, 1/4 Grape Fruit Juice [sic.], 1/2 Lemon Gin (Booth's).
