Triple Sec is an orange flavored liquor. The term Triple Sec means triple dry. While normally, the term 'dry' indicates a lack of sweetness, in this instance it is meaning triple distilled.
Cointreau is a "top shelf" Triple Sec, and is believed to be the first product to be labled as a Triple Sec, but so many other inferior products started using that designation, that eventually Cointreau removed it from it's label.
Triple Sec is similar to Orange Curaçao, but is made with a neutral grain spirit base instead of a brandy base. This provides a slightly different flavor profile between the two.
