Maraschino
Made from marasca cherries, processed and distilled much like brandy, and then combined with a pure cane syrup, aged and filtered, and turned into a sweet cherry infused liquor.
In Washington state where I live, this liquor is not part of the standard stock of the state run liquor stores, and thus can only be acquired through special order. In other states it may be easier to locate and purchase, check with your local liqour purveyors.
One of the foremost brands of Maraschino liquor is the Italian company Luxardo.
And their claim on the little flyer that comes with each bottle is:
"The Italian liquer best known and most appreciated all over the world."
