Cocktail Guidebooks
Sometimes, the only difference between a cocktail guidebook and a Wad-O-Drinks book, is that the recipes are of better quality, or of lesser quantity.
If you take a Wad-O-Drinks book and pare it down to the 300 or so cocktails that are "classic", then you can end up with a "cocktail guidebook". Where a Wad-O-Drinks book is one that you would use to look up recipes that your college friends might pummel you with, a "Cocktail Guidebook" is one that you would use yourself to try to find a good cocktail recipe that you want to try. The best cocktail guidebooks, will also contain commentary and observations from the author that gives you some description, history, and variations of many of the drinks. Thus providing you with much better information on which drinks you should perhaps be paying attention to.
